Let’s stay spiritually connected and plugged in, and revisit connecting to the ultimate power source–God. Here is the Part 2 to last week’s blog. Let’s dive into Spiritual Connection: Finding Strength in God’s Power
In Part 1, I shared how Hurricane Helene disrupted our normalcy in September, leaving lasting effects as cleanup efforts continue even now. We explored how life’s storms challenge us to rely on God as our ultimate source of peace and strength.
Amid the chaos, the hum of a generator became a powerful reminder of how critical it is to stay spiritually connected to Him for sustenance during difficult seasons. The generator provided not just physical energy but also a spiritual connection, reminding me of God’s faithful provision and constant presence.
Our generator became a lifeline, teaching me a profound truth: just as the generator sustained my family through the storm, staying spiritually connected to God sustains us through life’s challenges. But spiritual connection isn’t just for the storms—it’s a daily practice that keeps us grounded and renewed. What I hadn’t realized was that God was teaching me lessons on power sources, patience, and the importance of nurturing a strong spiritual connection even before the hurricane. He used what I would call a “serendipitous” experience to teach me a deeper lesson on connection and how understanding differentiation between sources can better help us to remain powered through varying seasons of life.
A Lesson in Charging Stations, Plugs, and Patience

This summer and early fall intentional time with family felt therputic for me. I became more grounded with every interaction. Then, when I attended the women’s conference at the end of September, that time in fellowship with like-minded Christian women was a refill I didn’t know I needed. However, though finding restoration through downtime and people is valid, here’s where the story gets a little interesting and aligns with God’s message to me about the importance of connection and power sources.
Just before the women’s conference, I bought an electric vehicle (EV).
Did I hear someone ask if I had lost my mind? Apparently, Sis! . . . AP-PA-RENT-LY!
So here’s the thing. . . I wasn’t in the market to purchase a car, let alone an EV. It just kind of happened. Now, however, I believe God wanted to use my experience as a part of my understanding and this analogy. Nevertheless, I was excited and loved my new vehicle. . . until I realized. . . I HAD NO IDEA WHAT I HAD GOTTEN MYSELF INTO!
The EV world is not for the weak or uninformed. This new “lifestyle” would require patience, planning, and educating myself on appropriate charging sources. Do you see the pattern here? God wants His handprint on everything we do, ensuring His message remains clear in every aspect of our lives.
My first road trip in my new EV was much longer than expected. Navigating to charging stations and then waiting for the battery to charge added additional hours to an already long trip. On the final stretch, I had 20% battery life and was desperate to find a compatible charger. Did I mention it was 4:00 AM? Finally, I found a dealership with a charger that (mind you) I had to sneak into the parking lot of another dealership to access. Let’s just say, “Desperate times call for desperate measures.
Strengthening Your Spiritual Connection with the Ultimate Power Source

Through my electric vehicle experience, I discovered a profound lesson: NOT ALL POWER SOURCES ARE CREATED EQUAL. Basic charging stations offered slow charging, but “superchargers” delivered rapid and powerful boosts, restoring my car’s energy quickly. This distinction revealed a clear parallel to life—when we rely on lesser sources of power, such as things or people, we often find ourselves feeling insufficient or drained. But God is our ultimate supercharger, providing immediate and lasting renewal.
As Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 12:9, “
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my POWER is made perfect in weakness.”
Just like a supercharger, God’s power sustains us so that we have enough fortitude for the journey. His supernatural power give us the strength and clarity we need to keep moving forward, no matter how drained we feel. A strong spiritual connection sustains us when life feels overwhelming, ensuring we have the peace and strength needed to endure even the most challenging seasons.
When we prioritize staying spiritually connected to God, we are reminded that spiritual connection is the foundation for lasting peace, clarity, and purpose. It’s through this connection that we find the strength to navigate life’s uncertainties, trusting Him to guide and restore us in every season. What’s best is that God’s power is greatest in us when we’re weak. Isn’t it reassuring to know His power is fortified right when we need it most?
P.L.U.G. Into God: A Strategy for Deepening Your Spiritual Connection
This has been a year-long pilgrimage for me. In the early months I was unsure of whether I would endure. My thoughts were unclear and every endeavor seemed pointless; even those parts of me that once felt natural and effortless seemed out of reach.
Finally, after my realization of the EV and the generator, something amazing happened—MY “power” came back on. God began downloading creative thoughts, messages, and fresh insights. I went from barely being able to write to spending entire days receiving and processing new messages and revelations. It may have taken months, but I finally understood why God had disconnected me in so many areas of my life. He was unplugging me from draining sources and teaching me to rely on Him as my complete source.
Reflecting on everything God had shown me during this time—the quiet, the stillness, and the surrender—I realized He was equipping me with a spiritual recharge strategy: The P.L.U.G.—steps to stay connected to Him as my ultimate power source. Here’s what He reminded me concerning staying connected to the true Source of all power.
P – Prioritize God’s Presence

While adjusting to the aftermath of Hurrican Helene my morning outine changed. Likewise, during life’s storms, starting each day with God was essential, just like starting the generator each morning to power our home’s basics. Even when there were so many demands and disruptions, each morning began with plugging into His presence—like recharging a spiritual battery to face whatever the day held. Making God a priority each morning strengthens our spiritual connection with Him.”
Matthew 6:33 says, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Meeting God daily was my essential assignment. As I align with Him in acknowledgment and prayer, the desires of my heart shift towards His will for my life which can only lead to deeper trust, contentment, and satisfaction.
L – Lean on His Promises
Just as we counted on the generator to meet our needs daily, I realized that God’s promises are as reliable. When my strength started to wane, I felt God’s grace powering through, showing up right when I needed it most. Second Corinthians 12:9 reminds us, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.’
Even in my most exhausted moments, God steps in to sustain me, proving that His strength shines the brightest when I feel like I have none left. That’s why I lean on Him, trusting that He’ll always come through with the good things He’s promised. Leaning on God’s promises means I can have expectation that The Plug will provide daily spiritual recharge.
U – Unplug from Draining Sources
Ephesians 5:18 reminds us to fill up on the Spirit, not on things that drain us. At times, we all are guilty of plugging into sources that can’t sustain us—whether it’s people, activities, or even things we overindulge in. Unplugging from distractions allows us to renew our spiritual connection and focus on His peace.
This year, the lessons brought from the storm have shown me one thing for sure: true renewal and strength come only when I unplug from my own desires and let God’s Spirit fill me completely. A true spiritual connection happens when we disconnect from distractions and discover The Plug through Him.
G – Give Gratitude and Glory
In First Thessalonians 5:16-18, Paul said, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks.” Though I began this year uncertain about why God chose to put me in a state of rest, it was during those quiet evenings with nothing but the hum of the generator that I gained a true sense of gratitude for my condition. When I looked around all I saw was devastation, uprooted trees, down powerlines, but no harm to any of our personal property. All I could do was give God glory! Each day, I thanked God for keeping us safe and providing what we needed, and even without luxuries, I found peace in His presence.
In each of these ways, God reminded me that only by prioritizing His presence, leaning on His promises, unplugging from the world, and living in gratitude could I truly stay empowered. Though I didn’t understand why God kept me at rest, the stillness reminded me that gratitude, even in hardship, recharges the soul and fills us with peace only He can give.
Embracing The Plug for Every Season
Through storms, delays, and a new rhythm of rest, I’ve discovered the power of staying connected to God daily. Whether it was the hum of a generator during the storm or understanding the difference between slow chargers and superchargers through my EV experience, God has shown me that only His power can truly sustain us through every challenge.
Like others, I, too, had been guilty of plugging into my own achievements, relying on my own strength, and looking to busyness to keep me going. But this year, I’ve learned the beauty of surrendering to God’s timing and letting Him be my ultimate source.
So, I’ll ask you again: Who is your plug? Are you relying on temporary fixes that leave you drained, or are you connected to the Source who provides lasting peace, purpose, and clarity? If you’re ready for a spiritual recharge, start today:
Prioritize His Presence: Begin each day seeking Him first.
Lean on His Promises: Trust His Word to sustain you when you’re weak.
Unplug from Draining Sources: Let go of what can’t fill you and focus on Him.
Give Him Gratitude: Praise Him for His faithfulness, even in the waiting.
When you do, you’ll discover that His power is sufficient, His connection never fails, and His supply will sustain you through every season.
Let’s commit to staying connected to The Plug—our unshakable source of peace, strength, and purpose—as we prepare for a season of renewal and the opportunities the new year will bring.
Hoping to bring a little sunshine!
