“They shall mount up with wings like eagles…”
This reflection marks five years of being Renewed Like an Eagle—learning how to rise through storms, grief, and unexpected favor.
Six years ago, I had no plans on building a platform. For what? The least I set out to do was survive. I needed space to breathe and to have all the emotions—to cry, to process, to write, and unknowingly… to heal.
What began as my own personal pursuit for healing became a place of refuge for others.
Dawn of a New Day
On May 23, 2020, Dawn of a New Day 365 was born from a place of despair. It was never meant to be a brand or a business. It was a life preserver. I threw words out into the world, hoping they might keep me afloat. But God had other plans.
Today, five years later, this space has become somewhat of a sanctuary beyond anything I ever could have imagined.

- Over 750 women have joined the DND365 women’s Facebook group journey.
- I’ve published 60 blog articles on faith, marriage, family, friendship, grief, and growth.
- I’ve written over 152,500 words of encouragement, honesty, and hope.
- Those words have garnered 31,284 views.
- DND365’s inspirational quotes and blogs have generated over 750,000 unique impressions on Pinterest, spreading messages of hope across multiple platforms and countries.
- I’m now a 16-time award-winning author of three children’s books and two devotionals, and I’ve helped 18 aspiring authors join me in that space.
But what matters most isn’t the numbers but that I kept showing up. I kept rising and writing—even when, at times, I didn’t feel strong enough to do so.
Now, I profess, I’m entering my eagle season.
Why the Eagle?
Isaiah 40:31 reminds us:
“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.”
Let’s talk about it…
Before You Soar, You Wait
“They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength…”
Note that it doesn’t say “those who push harder,” or “make the best plans,” or “have it all together.”
It says: Those who WAIT.
When I began this journey, I had no idea who I would be on the other side of the storm. The outcome was unclear. The next step? Unknown.
But deep down, I knew this much: waiting to hear from God was my only option.
And let’s be honest—waiting can look like weakness. From the outside, a person in their waiting season might appear stuck, fragile, or even lost.
But on the contrary…
Waiting is not weakness—it’s an assurance of divine alignment.
Waiting positions us to receive with clarity—rather than rushing prematurely. It allows us to flow with God’s timing instead of fighting for our own. Therein lies the strength.
Built to Rise: Why the Eagle Stands Apart

As the scripture continues, it says, “They shall mount up on wings as eagles.”
Scripture didn’t just simplify it as “a bird.” It specifically referenced the EAGLE.
This mention is intentional; as we understand that an eagle’s characteristics, paritucalarly in their flight, are different from other winged creatures. Yes, there are many birds that can fly, but not all wings were meant to soar.
Some birds were made to stay low, peck in circles, or to make alot of noise with no direction. Doesn’t that sound like some people? They have a proclivity to stay low in their thinking, circling their past pains and trauma, talking alot, but having no clear direction. Yes, that may be how some people move through life—but not us. We were built for something different. Something higher…like the eagle.
My friend, that’s the story. The beauty of the eagle isn’t just in how it flies—but in what it refuses to become.
Not All Wings Were Meant to Soar
If the eagle shows us what’s possible, then looking at other birds reminds us what to avoid.
Some birds are in constant motion—busy, flapping, and reacting—but they never gain height.
They move… but they don’t rise.
They’re active… but not ascending.
They have wings… but no elevation.
That’s why the comparison matters.
Because when we understand what doesn’t soar, we begin to value what does. And more importantly—we begin to recognize the limitation in our own wings.
That’s why the comparison matters.

First, let’s consider the chicken.
Chickens are built for the ground. They peck… scatter… They move in circles. Chickens stay busy—but never get too high.
Then, there’s the crow.
Crows are noisy. They gather in numbers. But often they’re loud with no direction. They are reactors–attention seekers.
And what about the lowest of them all? Yep! You guessed it–the vulture.
Vultures, commonly referred to as Buzzards, only feed on dead things. They circle pain, old trauma, leftovers—always looking for what’s rotting. Spiritually, that’s how some people live—constantly circling past wounds, staying in old cycles, never rising above them. In fact, they don’t even hunt for their food, They wait for something else to leave it behind.
EAGLES? They’re built different.
You see… eagles aren’t afraid to rise above every other element in the sky and fly alone when needed. Unlike the chicken, the crow, or the buzzard, the eagle doesn’t just exist—it climbs, ascends, and conquers. While the others scatter, squawk, and scavenge—the eagle soars.
Built for the Climb: Why the Eagle Soars
During May, the theme of our ministry’s prayer sessions had been Elevation: Rising in Alignment with God’s Will.
While my husband was leading the 6 AM session, he said something that shifted my conscience:
“The eagle doesn’t run from the storm—it rides it.”
That imagery stuck with me.
In both appearance and sound, storms can quickly cause most to panic and fear.
However, when dark clouds gather, the eagle does neither. It doesn’t hide itself away, fearing the trouble or turmoil the storm may bring.
Instead, it stands strong. Seeing the storm coming, the eagle doesn’t retreat, it flies into it.
Why?
Because the eagle knows what others don’t:
The storm doesn’t stop the flight—it strengthens it.
Yes! Sometimes the path to higher ground goes straight through what might seem like it would take you out. So could I submit to you this truth: the storm isn’t always a sign of trouble. The storm is your lifter. And the storm could very well be the tool God uses to elevate you to the next level.
But let’s not stop at the storm when we consider the eagle’s uniqueness. The eagle’s strength isn’t just about surviving the pressure—it’s also about how it lives when the skies are clear.
The Way of the Eagle
The eagle can soar at altitudes up to 10,000 feet—where other birds can’t even breathe. My friend, that’s the kind of elevation God calls us into: places of clarity, peace, and purpose that not everyone is equipped to handle.
Another strong attribute of the eagle is its keen sense of sight—seeing up to five miles ahead. That’s not just vision; that’s divine focus. Unlike other birds, eagles don’t flap aimlessly—they fly with intention. And if we’re taking notes? That’s what faith in motion looks like.
And when the eagle grows weary? It doesn’t quit. It retreats to higher ground—away from the noise—not to give up, but to renew. There, it sheds old feathers, sharpens its beak and talons, and prepares to do what it was created to do—soar.
The retreat of the eagle is not weakness. It’s wisdom. The same is true for us. So be encouraged, if you’ve been in a season where you felt separated or set apart. You’re not falling behind—you’re being restored. What seems like delay may actually be preparation.
Be Minfdul What You Eat

And finally, after the eagle has been renewed, it’s intentional about what it consumes.
Unlike the buzzard, which feeds off what’s aleady dead, or the chicken that eats what is thrown out for it, the eagle only goes after living prey. In the same way, we must be mindful of what we feed our spirit. Don’t settle for what was lost or left behind. Instead, pray for the promise of life—for what still breathes and aligns with your purpose.
Here is the truth: Like the eagle, the isn’t breaking you—it building you. So for every hardship you’ve endured, every quiet season that felt like isolation, and every whispered prayer you thought God forgot—
Know this: You’re being Renewed Like an Eagle.
Rise in Your Season: The Inclusive Promise
As the scripture suggests, sometimes we’re going to walk, and that’s okay. Sometimes we’ll run, and that’s needed. But then there are moments when God says, “I need you to rise—above the chaos, above the past, above the noise.” And in those moments, you don’t flap in frantic. You wait…You align…You use all that has built your journey to stretch and…SOAR.
What I love about Isaiah 40:31 is the inclusivity of the promise. It doesn’t leave anyone out, but meets us where we are.
- You’ll mount up—that’s for the ones ready to fly.
- You’ll run and not get weary—that’s for the ones in motion but feeling tired.
- You’ll walk and not faint—that’s for the ones who can barely take the next step.
God understands our pace, and doesn’t demand perfection—He offers renewal.
So whether we’re flying, pressing forward, or simply holding it together… He is in it with us.
But it all comes down to this:
Are you willing to wait?
Because if you wait on Him, I am a witness, He will renew you. He is able to bring strength back to weary places. He can bring to life what others have tried to bury. And He can restore what the journey has drained.
This Is My Soaring Season
Some years of the Dawn of a New Day 365 journey, I was walking—steady, focused, but carrying grief and uncertainty. Other seasons, I was running—sometimes fueled by passion, sometimes running on fumes. But even in the hardest moments, I kept pushing.
But this year, God said: It’s time to soar.
And I’m ready.
Now, here’s my truth…
A Fresh Wind

Personally, this new season is more than a milestone. It’s a firm shift. God is sending a fresh wind—not one I have to manufacture, and not one I have to chase. It’s a wind that lifts. One that carries all of us into new dimensions.
Why do I say “us”?
Because, as I continue to evolve into a better version of myself, I’m better equipped to pour into those God has entrusted me to walk with in divine connection.
So here’s what I know:
- It’s time to stop circling in fear, intimidation, or the grip of old hurt.
- It’s time to stretch forward in faith.
- To trust the wind of the Spirit.
- To rise in purpose, in joy, and in calling.
Because if life has taught me anything, it’s this—
The storm isn’t the enemy. It’s the elevator.
And whether we’re in a season of walking, running, or soaring—God is with us.
There is fruit in waiting. This is what it means to be Renewed Like an Eagle.
Continuing to Soar: The Mission Still Matters

Though I’ll soon be serving again in a traditional professional role, this space—Dawn of a New Day 365—remains sacred to me. Yes, God brought something new, but He hasn’t released me from what has sustained me. So yes, there will be more blogs. Yes, there will be more books. And yes—there will be more gatherings, more panels, and prayerfully a retreat or conference in the near future.
The mission and the movement are still alive and well.
Even in this season of new responsibilities, I believe divine connections will continue to expand this space. As relationships are built, my hope is that more women will find their way here—into a community where growth and grace walk hand in hand.
To Every Woman Who Has Walked This Journey With Me
My friend… This part is not just a reflection—it’s an embrace.
THANK YOU.
I want to THANK YOU for reading, sharing, believing, trusting. and for seeing the value in a blog born from brokenness.
This platform isn’t just mine—it’s ours. And as I prepare to walk into a dream opportunity, I do so with gratitude. Not just for the position, but for the preparation.
Every blog post, every prayer, every moment of “Lord, I trust you” has led me to this.
Here’s to five more years.
Always here to bring a little SUNSHINE!
~Dawn
