Balancing the Blessing: Protecting Your Person and Your Purpose in a Season of Promotion
When Growth Changes the Rhythm
As we move into June and prepare to enter the rhythm of summer, I’ve found myself reflecting on something I believe many of us quietly experience but don’t always talk about openly.
Sometimes, after we’ve prayed and received the blessing, and stepped into a meaningful new season, we realize that this new success still requires adjustments along the way.

The blessing itself isn’t the problem, nor does this mean we’re ungrateful or somehow outside of God’s will.
Growth simply changes our once familiar rhythm.
In seasons of increase, it becomes easy to focus so heavily on carrying new responsibilities and expectations that we unintentionally neglect parts of ourselves that once helped keep us grounded, healthy, and aligned.
Over the past year, my life has shifted significantly. New role. New pace. A shift in daily interaction and visibility. Which also means different effort and emotional output.
Though demanding, I’m grateful.
I enjoy the work, the conversations and connections, and the opportunity to lift up and support others in this new capacity. And though different, I can clearly see God’s hand in this season of my life.
Still, somewhere in the middle of the elevation and opportunities, there is a reality that still exists.
I still experience moments where internal imbalance is evident.
The Weight of Blessings
Many of us assume that once the prayer is answered, the struggle is over. Arrival of the blessing often feels like it should automatically create ease. Yet I continue with the realization that blessings and burdens both carry weight.
And as I’ve often quoted and written about,
“Just because someone carries it well doesn’t mean it isn’t heavy.”
Without intentional stewardship, even meaningful responsibilities can slowly begin to feel overwhelming.
Yes, the assignment may be purposeful, and the growth may seem timely and appropriate. Even so, reassessment of life, time, and values may become even more necessary so that in revising one area of our life, we do not unintentionally create an imbalance in another.
Think about it like replacing a tire on a car. The new tire may solve the immediate need, but performance over time often requires rotating the remaining three and undergoing a full alignment to ensure a balanced drive. Otherwise, uneven wear can and will develop.
Life can be similar.
Opportunities, answered prayers, and growth are often celebrated publicly, while the adjustments required to sustain ourselves in those seasons quietly happen behind the scenes.
As this season marked one year since I made the hard pivot back to traditional work, I realized I needed to again become more intentional in areas that once came naturally to me.
Gratitude and Realignment Can Coexist
One of the most freeing realizations I’ve had in this season is understanding that gratitude and realignment can coexist.
A person can be thankful for answered prayers, growth, and stability, and still recognize that certain areas of life need attention.

That realization removed shame from the process.
Recently, I’ve been listening to Brendon Burchard’s The 6 Habits of Growth. During Habit 3 — Confidence — he mentioned that sometimes when a person seems to lack confidence, it’s because, in the moment, they lack clarity.
That resonated with me.
Although in many ways, my life currently reflects growth and success, there are still moments when something within me feels slightly off. So I found myself wondering whether what I was experiencing was connected to clarity. If so, what exactly was I lacking clarity about?
Here’s what I knew:
On the surface, I’m still functioning, producing, accomplishing, and moving the needle forward.
As I reflected more honestly, I realized the issue wasn’t lack of clarity. It was lack of balance.
I, in essence, had become fragmented.
Different parts of me are requiring attention at the same time, while one area of my life is naturally receiving the majority of my energy in this season.
And although meaningful, that imbalance eventually becomes noticeable.
When You Know Something is Off
What I’m beginning to understand is that fragmentation often reveals itself through the areas of life we unintentionally stop tending to consistently.
So, what were the indicators?
For me, my indicators looked like:
- Physical activity needing to become intentional again.
Not for physical appearance alone, but for peace of mind and functionality of spirit. - Intentional stillness.
Not merely moments of silence, but intentional space created before moving into the workday routine, emails, and deadlines. - Reentry of my creative voice.
Although I continue writing, communicating, and creating within this season of leadership and advocacy work—through newsletters, articles, and other advocacy-focused content—I realize how much I value the personal reflection that blogging has always provided. - Structure around what refills me.
Not just structure around responsibilities and deadlines, but around the practices, rhythms, and spaces that help me feel grounded, replenished, spiritually centered, and emotionally whole.
Becoming aware of these areas helped me realize that imbalance is not always apparent, but can take place subtly and go undetected when we are not intentionally paying attention to ourselves beyond productivity and performance.
Recognizing the Indicators
For someone else, imbalance may reveal itself differently.
At times, it may appear through exhaustion, irritability, disconnection, inconsistency, or difficulty resting, even when opportunities are going well.
In other seasons, the imbalance may surface during uncertainty, disappointment, transition, emotional strain, or the pressure of trying to regain stability.
Either way, recognizing those indicators is important.
Imbalance left unattended eventually affects how we function, connect, show up, and how we prioritize—or neglect—our self-care.
Intentional stewardship remains necessary in every season.
Alignment Matters Despite the Season
I know much of what I’ve shared here comes from the perspective of intentional realignment in a season where growth, opportunity, and responsibility are more visible.
However, before I close, I also want to acknowledge those who may currently feel like they are on the opposite end of the spectrum.
For some, this season may feel marked more by strain than success—mentally, emotionally, physically, financially, or spiritually. In those moments, uncertainty can begin affecting not only how we see our circumstances, but also how we see ourselves.
Even there, intentional alignment is necessary.
The same intentionality required in seasons of growth is often needed even moreso in seasons of readjustment.
During seasons of growth, we are often more visible and engaged. We find ourselves showing up in ways that naturally keep us connected to others.
However, seasons of uncertainty can feel different. We typically become quieter and begin to pull back. Sometimes we fade into the background while trying to process what has changed, what has been lost, and what comes next. Left unchecked, difficult seasons can create isolation and disconnection.
And while temporary separation may sometimes help us regain clarity, isolation often pulls us away from the support, encouragement, accountability, and perspective we still need.
Regardless of what this season currently looks like, stewardship and meaningful connection remain important.

Scripture Reflection
“Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.”
In Proverbs 4, Solomon is giving wisdom and instruction about intentional living, discernment, and remaining mindful of the path we are walking. By the time he reaches verse 23, the focus shifts inward.
The “heart” in this passage speaks to more than emotion. It represents our inner life—our thoughts, spirit, motives, well-being, and direction.
Scripture reminds us that what is happening internally eventually affects how we function outwardly.
Remaining intentional about our well-being—mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually—is essential because imbalance, fragmentation, exhaustion, and disconnection eventually begin revealing themselves outwardly when left unattended.
Whether in a season of growth or uncertainty, God should always remain our compass.
Pause & Reflect
As you prepare for the summer season, take a moment to ask yourself:
- What adjustments does this season require?
- What areas of my life need better alignment?
- Am I protecting the person carrying the purpose?
- What rhythms need to shift so I can sustain this season well?
- What parts of me have I unintentionally stopped tending to consistently?
Perhaps you’re balancing blessings or navigating burdens. Either way, know that the skip in your internal rhythm may not be a glitch in the assignment or the season itself. It may be an invitation to reassess your balance and stewardship within it.

A Moment to Reconnect
If you’re part of the Dawn of a New Day 365 community, I want to say something personally:
I’ve missed you!
But I don’t count our time away as a breakup.
Life has been happening for everyone.
As I’m sure you know, sometimes relationships enter seasons where there’s only enough time to think about one another, play phone tag, celebrate each other from a distance, pray, or reconnect as opportunities present themselves . . . while life continues moving quickly.
Even so, the connection still exists.
For me, this blog is an intentional moment to reconnect.
Time may have passed, but the care, gratitude, and appreciation I feel toward this community never disappeared.
Although my new responsibilities created more distance than I intended, Dawn of a New Day 365 has never been far from my heart.
As we move into this next season together, I look forward to reconnecting more intentionally through future blogs, conversations, encouragement, and community.
