Ana is an 8-year-old girl who struggles sometimes with telling the truth and her self-esteem. One day during a difficult family moment, Ana’s adoptive mother shares with her the attributes and life-cycle of a dandelion; explaining that though the dandelion looks like a flower, some consider it a weed, not understanding its value – the way that Ana sometimes feels.
This story is beautifully written with colorful illustrations to match. Book includes VOCABULARY, CHECK-ON-LEARNING, AND JOURNAL PROMPTS.
GREAT FOR CHILDREN, PARENTS, COUNSELORS, AND THERAPISTS!

Heeyy Dandelion is a wonderfully written and illustrated book about a young, adopted girl whose mother uses a very special dandelion analogy to help her work through some of life’s challenges. I especially love the way the mother lovingly explains things to her daughter resulting in a formative dialog between the two of them. I highly recommend book!

Heeeyy Dandelion is one of the best children book I have read. Being a mother of 2 adoptive children made this book a bit more personal for me. I love how it touches on self esteem because my middle child struggles with this everyday. It took me reading Heeeyy Dandelion to help me understand how I can help her to get through some of the things she’s facing. This book needs to be on everyone’s book shelf. If you need help connecting with your child(ren) this book is what you need. God Bless the author for sharing her story.

This was a beautiful children’s book to share with my little. It was beautifully printed and I also purchased a coloring book. I had so much fun coloring with my little and being able to explain what words meant in clear context throughout the story. This is a great choice to add to your little’s reading collection especially if they have a friend who may come from an adoptive home. Beautifully written and informative.

This book is one for all ages. It is sure to inspire all that read it just as it did with me. Dawn provided the perfect book to boost self-esteem, provide self-love, and to truly embrace all that God has created you to be. Make sure to grab yours ASAP if you have not already. You will not be disappointed.

Heeeyy Dandelion! is a great addition to any library! A beautifully illustrated story about childhood, growth, development and recognizing one’s own value and place in the world. Childhood themes of self-confidence, honesty, belonging, empathy and resilience are told through the lens of a young girl navigating adoption and experiencing unconditional love from her family. A perfect read for young and old and a must have resource for those who work in the realm of child development. A child’s journal and coloring book are also available accompaniments to this great read. A 10/10 recommend!

I’m so happy with my purchase of Heeeyy Dandelion. I am a school counselor in both the elementary and middle school settings. I have utilized both the Daily Journal and Affirmations book in my individual and small group counseling sessions with my students. They all especially enjoy the coloring book. I have also displayed their art work in my office as a reminder to the lessons. What I especially appreciate about Heeeyy Dandelion is that it encourages self esteem and throughly explains the concept of FAMILY and ACCEPTANCE. I’m looking forward to Dawn’s next adventure. She definitely has my support!

This book should sit on every school’s shelf, regardless of age! Heeey Dandelion touches the hearts of all the resilient children of trauma. The author has a way of relating to the reader through Ana’s experience. After reading this book, the reader leaves with the feelings of feeling loved, included and empowered to be themselves!

Heeeyy Dandelion is a must read for all ages! The message that is written is for no specific age group. From the youngest to the oldest can all grasp a message after reading. It’s a personal connection in this book that makes everyone be able to relate to. My nine year old reads the book on more than one occasion, has the journal that she actively writes in, and coloring book she colors. It is definitely a favorite on her shelf, and for that I am so grateful for Mrs. Dawn and the messages she has in Heeeyy Dandelion.

Heeeyy Dandelion! is such a special book. Mrs. Dawn Charleston Green has read her book to my 1st grade class and they love it! The book highlights important topics like, honesty, child self-esteem, belonging, and loving communication. Children will love this book because it allows them to think about a dandelion in a new way while following along with Ana’s journey of understanding her value in her family. After reading this book, children will know that they are valuable and loved. Read it for yourself to find out!

Heeeyy Dandelion may be a children’s book, but it speaks the child within each individual. My four-year-old enjoys reading the book over and over again. Often times children think parents are being mean when they correct them, but with love applied it allows our children to grow and develop into trusting adults. Dawn has a way of inspiring others through her words. Not only has this book blessed my family, but it is inspiring one reader at a time. If you’re looking for a book to connect with your child, look no further. She has a way of connecting with the reader, young and older and the stories are so relatable. This has been one of my favorite books to read to my little one. She loves the coloring book as well.
