For females, there seems to be an innate need for relationships with other females very early on. Not from a place of competition, but rather from a place of need and support. We begin to learn and glean from each other very early in our journeys. It seems there is a security found in female friendship that anchors us to life in some way. If you know your know.
Friend, whatever you are called and purposed to do, do it with God’s strength and leading. Don’t compromise it no matter how bright the lights might be, or how significant the dividends. We cannot pray and ask God to enlarge our territory, and then turn around and let down the borders of our faith; turning our focus to success and popularity. It’s the boundaries of our faith and the wisdom that comes from it that keeps us safe emotionally, mentally, financially, and spiritually. Though it might seem like such an easy edit, just like with my book, deleting God will not help you become the best version of yourself. Even when it’s tempting, Sis…Trust God anyway. You’ll never be disappointed.
To my fellow sisters who may be feeling discouraged, remember to pause and appreciate the encounters with God’s blessings that are all around us. They are always present, even in the uncertainties and chaos of life. Let’s be diligent in becoming more aware of the new encounters God is divinely orchestrating for us. However, do not forget, it’s not the encounter that happens that is the best part…it’s the encounter with Him that makes the difference.
Listen. I’ve decided, whether it be my nails, my car, my relationships, my hair, my faith…if it doesn’t serve me, consider me, advance me, or enhance me…it cannot retain my loyalty by default.
I will no longer settle for MEDIOCRITY from someone else TOWARDS ME to make them appear EXCEPTIONAL to OTHERS. When we continue to give service and honor to establishments, organizations, and people who don’t reciprocate the appreciation, we are ultimately giving an inaccurate reference or stamp of approval for others on the outside.
The term UNFRIEND has become an ugly word. Not just an ugly word, but an offensive word. But I’m here to play devil’s advocate I see individual messages on FaceBook about this topic all the time; and I’ve had some conversations with a few friends about it. People are usually very bothered when they realize they’ve been unfriended. I, however, am on the other side of this. One because, I’ve unfriended some folks a time or two, and I’ve also been unfriended by people. Here’s my take. Unfriend has less to do with the person who was unfriended and more to do with the well-being of the person who took the action. Learn more…
What we had imagined for 2020 was far from a “perfect picture”; but I do believe 2020 offered the perfect INSIGHT and REFLECTION into who we were as individuals, mankind, as nations, and in our beliefs; whether those beliefs be individual, family, cultural, political, or religious. 2020 pulled back the veils of what we aspired to have, what we had, what we needed and who we really were. However, some of those things were difficult to process in their totality until now. Yes, now that we’ve crossed the threshold into 2021 and look back from whence we came, we realize the vision 2020 would provide would be in HINDSIGHT.

We could choose to ignore feelings of sorrow, heaviness and grief, but eventually it will all build up and catch us off guard. We’ll wonder, “Why am I so irritated, angry, sad, or withdrawn.” It may be due to grief or our inability to properly deal with it. And 2020 has brought its share of it…grief that is.
Saturday was August 15th to be exact. So then, why while school shopping…did I walk through the front doors of a home store to be met by rows of Christmas trees??? White ones. Frocked ones with the fake snow, and lights. Why? Have I already mentioned that it’s still August?
We are framed to be gentle; yet nothing about what women carry is light…
So, you tell me, who’s your support system? Do you have you some good BRAS (Battle-Ready Reinforcement and Assistance)? Or is it time for a new fitting? Because always remember, just like with an actual bra, even when you know your size, you still may have to make some adjustments.
Our nation has been asthmatic for generations. I don’t think it coincidental the parallel to our nation’s condition and the symptoms of the coronavirus. We all have to be ESSENTIAL WORKERS if something is gonna change. Liberty and justice can’t survive social distancing. We all have to get to work.
Unfortunately, wearing masks won’t stop the contagion of injustice.
